The otter had been taken by someone wanting it for taxidermy and it had ended up in Bristol and left for 18 days unfrozen.  We weren’t sure if the body was still o.k. for forwarding to Cardiff University but the DNA, sex and rough age, at the very least, was important to record.  Although extremely ‘ripe’, the body was in better condition than we thought and will be forwarded to Cardiff.

Claire, from our neighbouring North Somerset YACWAG otter group, took suitable precautions to ensure she did not spend the next week smelling dead otters!!
